Drawer Boxes | Philadelphia, PA

A fraternity brother of mine was expecting the arrival of his first child, a baby boy. He and his were making built-ins to add storage to the baby’s room. As the due date grew closer he needed some help in finishing the build. He contacted me to see if I was able to build the 9 drawer boxes needed to complete the built-ins. I would never leave a Brother in need so I agreed to help. The drawer boxes were built in a week and then I look them to my furniture refinisher and he finished in just over a week. Everything turned out great and the drawers were installed before the baby was born.

Once all the panels were cut from 1x12 select pine, a total of 36, half of them were prepped with pocket screw holes in order to use them as the attachments.

After the pocket holes were drilled it was time for assembly. Glue, screws and many different clamps were used to make boxes square.

When I build projects either one or both of my sons are usually with me, helping or playing, as I work. As I was loading the boxes into my trailer my oldest, Conor, decided to see just how big the 27"x27" drawer boxes were. He fit right in with room to spare.

About a week and a half later the drawer boxes were finished in clear coat, picked up by my client and installed. This is what the client built to accept the drawer boxes.

Another picture of all that storage. That's only 4 of the 9 drawer boxes that were build. The drawer faces were built and later installed by the client.

And just in case you were wondering my client, PT, also fit into the drawer boxes as well.
