Deck Connector | West Chester, PA

A while back I built a small deck off of a sunroom. Here is a little reminder for you of the ‘Deck Landing‘. That same client contacted me this summer and wanted to connect the deck landing to the original deck off the rear of the house. No major demo was needed for this small project. I must say I like how this turned out. More importantly, the client likes it even more.

The gap between the two decks was just under 6′ wide. They are begging to be joined together.

Added a double joist under the deck landing to carry the load of the new connector.

Installed the joist hangers off the double joist and notched the joists to sit on the existing deck because it was lower than the deck landing.

Cut the original rail out of the way and installed the pressure treated decking.

Added the railing where needed at the same height of the deck landing.

Needed to match up the handrail with the original from the deck landing.

This rail in front of the air conditioner was installed with carriage bolts in case it ever needed to be serviced.
